I called you last week about some possible purchases of mine.
Im with the 278th Regimental Combat Team over here 30 miles from the border of
Iran. I did indeed have two Kurdish men that i know go to a place called
Salymania, just north of my location. They went to a Persian rug dealer there
and got me one Tabriz Persian rug and one Qum. I learned that Qum was 90 miles
south of Tehran, Iran's capital and is considered by these people as very
eligant. The Qum Persian rug is thinner with different material it seems, more
detail, Ivory in color and the colors dont clash. The name of the ciry is
written in Arabic at the top of the rug centered in its border. It says from
right to left Qum, ahamadi , wich i was told is the name of the boss over the
coorperation of handmakers. Its size is around 3ft x 2ft. The Tibriz rug is a
little shorter but wider.. a little thicker material and the only proof of
authenticity i have for it is a picture of the store called The World of
Heritages in Salymania, Iraq. Not far from Iran. On the back of the picture is
printed the business information in 2 different languages. The store is
actually very nice giving Iraq's current condition. I was surprised. The
Tabriz Persian rug is black bordering white and ivory.. Let me know what you
think and when i hit the states in a few weeks ill scan or mail them to you if
you prefer for your better judgment.

Notes: This Tabriz Persian is very fine with over 400 kpsi and it is
considered a 55 raj. The quality of this rug is excellent and highly
recommendable. There are no flaws and it is a very detailed and fine Persian
rug. These type of rugs are also referred to as "Investment Persian Rugs" due to
the fact that they gain in value as they get older.
