PERSIAN RUG E-mails
Got it! My husband and I had a friend over for dinner tonight.
UPS
dropped off the box while we were out doing last minute shopping, and
the two hours between getting back and when company arrived were rather
frantic.
During conversation, our guest mentioned that one of her clients had
just arrived back from a trip to India, and the client had purchased a
new Persian rug there. At that point, I remembered that I had not yet opened the
box from UPS-- oops!
[To give you a little background on our guest, she does all kinds of odd
jobs for people here in Stockton. Most of her clients are older,
wealthy, and Jewish. This has got to be one of the most eccentric groups
of people, so our guest is full of interesting stories about them. A
significant number of them survived Hitler's concentration camps. Oddly
enough, one of the absolute best bits of advice on caring for Persian
rugs, came from one such client who had been on the housekeeping staff
for Hitler himself. That said, our guest is no stranger to Persian rugs,
so the timing of what happened next could hardly have been better....]
As our guest was trying to describe her client's new Indian Persian rug
(gombadeh design, no less-- life really IS stranger than fiction
sometimes... ), I unpacked the box from UPS and said, "Hey Anna, does
Mr. Steel's rug look anything like this one?" .... I wish you could have
seen the look on her face when I pulled out the contents from the box--
it was priceless.! :) Sooooo, I can say with great confidence that this Tabriz
rug has already made one hell of an impact around here.
One other thing: our friend loved your web page (I pulled it up for
her). Her son and daughter-in-law are in the midst of completely
overhauling their Atherton home, and once the major portion of the
construction is finished, I am sure Anna's daughter-in-law will be doing
some intensive redecorating.
Back to the Persian rug: it is now laid out and looking better than anything
else in the living room. No questions so far, but I will be sure to ask
any that might arise. Thank you for the amazing service too, by the way.
Size: 9'7" by 6'6"
Color: Main colors are red, beige, white, etc.
Material (Pile): PURE SILK
Foundation: Silk
Quality: About 700-800 kpsi
Price: $6500.00
Notes: Pure silk Qom Persian rugs typically are not as fine as they get
larger, but this one is a very nice piece. If you are a serious collector who
knows about Persian rugs, you will know how valuable they are. The artwork is
very well done and it's perfect for floors, walls, and framing.
