stumbled across
your very informative website in a web search attempting to get more
educated on Persian rugs and in my search for our first purchase of a
suitable Persian rug for our greatroom. This is also our first home
purchase. My wife and I have a budget of no more than $1,000 US$. We have
looked at Persian rugs everywhere from HD (Home Depot) to independant local
merchants, to temporary sellers operating from tents, to more recently,
online.
We have looked
at rugs made in India, China, Iran, and some machine made US. We definately
want a hand made Persian rug and prefer Persian designs. We also would
prefer a hand tied, notted rug vs the tufted or hand hooked designs we have
seen from India, as they appear finer. Are our expectations realistic?
On your website
you mention that it is possible to find a nice rug, made of wool and perhaps
some silk highlights in a 10 feet by 7 ft size range that should cost no
more than $900.00. You also mention that at this level, the prices can vary
greatly depending on the quality and the design of the rug. Your current
offerings don't have anything represented in this range. I have found rugs
in this price range, and less online, (here are two examples:)
Qom Persian Rug #5029
Size: 9'9" by 9'9"
Color: Main color is a shade of reddish/orange. The colors tend to move
depending on the lighting and from where a person stands. Typical with high end
ones.
Material (Pile): Pure SILK!!
Foundation: Pure SILK!!
Price: $9800.00
Notes: This is a super high quality all silk Qom Persian rug and it has about
650 KPSI!! Due to the high value, most people like to hang them on walls
although they are perfectly suited for floors. Most the time, Qom rugs are much
smaller and even the smaller ones are much more expensive when you compare their
size to the price. Absolute beautiful piece.
